Tired of feeling tired? No matter what time you hit the hay each night? We’ve all been there. It can be tricky juggling a full schedule and maintaining your necessary beauty sleep; especially in the right environment.

Luckily, a recent study from George Homes revealed that in a poll of 1,000 people’s sleeping habits, the ideal time to head to bed each night was 10:37pm. Weirdly specific, we know.

The study looked into the habits of people ahead of the ‘hibernation’ months that await us. It also revealed that to really up your chances of a good sleep, you should try two goose feather pillows and a duvet of around a 13.5 tog during the colder months. Princess and the pea eat your heart out.

We will definitely be tucked up at 10:37pm tonight! Here’s a few other ways you can ensure you get the best sleep possible with the best environment.

1. Unplug

Spend the hour before going to sleep away from screens – no phones, no laptops, no nothing. Your brain needs time to switch off, and this is one of the best ways to do that. It will give you the opportunity to fully relax after a hectic day of reading emails and staring at a screen.

2. Cool off

The optimum temperature for your bedroom during sleeping hours is around 18C. Harness your inner Goldilocks and make sure your room isn’t too hot or too cold so that you can be really comfortable.

3. Freshen up

It is recommended that you get fresh air circulating around your room, so opening a window for an hour or so before bed will make sure that you’re sleeping in a space that isn’t stuffy.

4. Avoid the bevs

In my experience, a half-finished couple of beers on my desk represent a night’s sleep that should have been better. Alcohol is incredibly disruptive and impedes your ability to reach deep sleep – even though it doesn’t often feel that way!
